Dear members,

It is indeed a proud and fulfilling moment for me to introduce to you the veryfirst issue of Indian Journal of Drugs in Dermatology or IJDD. The idea of bringing such journal dedicated to "Drugs in Dermatology" was conceptualized few years back when the strong need about this activity was felt by many of our dermatology colleagues. With the sudden influx of various dermatology and cosmeceutical preparations into the Indian market, dermatologists were puzzled about the rationale of such formulations. Scientific information and critical analysis of various drug formulation or drug combinations were greatly lacking. Similarly, need to highlight adverse reactions and adverse drug cutaneous reactions encountered in clinical practice was strongly felt. Many of cutaneous diseases are specific to Indian continent, and so are the drugs used in dermatology practice. It was thought that safety and efficacy of these dermatology drugs for relevant therapeutic indications required special attention. With this intention, this biannual journal dedicated to drug usage is being published.

The idea of bringing IJDD would not have been fulfilled without the active support and help of Maharashtra Branch of Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL). I thank all my seniors and colleagues from the bottom of my heart for making this journal a reality! The journal is the official journal of Maharashtra IADVL and at present there is no such journal from India dedicated to drugs used in dermatology practice. Bringing out a scholastic publication like this under the banner of Maharashtra Branch of IADVL has ensured much-needed authenticity and continuity for this journal. Having said that the journal is the ideal platform for all Indian and non-Indian dermatologists for publishing their articles on safety and efficacy of various drugs used by dermatologists. I hope that the journal is not only useful for dermatologists but also to colleagues in the pharmaceutical industry, researchers, and regulatory authorities. All of these stakeholders have been entrusted with the primary responsibility of ensuring maximum safety and giving quality care to our patients. The journal will serve as a catalyst in fulfilling this mission.

IJDD has a strong editorial team of qualified and dedicated members. I am sure that with the organized team efforts, the journal will soon establish its name among the best quality national and international journals in dermatology. I solicit your continued support, help, guidance, and blessings to take IJDD to new heights!
